Never say never

You know, I don't know if it is the Asian culture influencing me these days or what; but I have noticed how I am really into making everything into a math equation these days. Seriously, that is how I often explain English grammar rules to my students.

For example:

1 preposition + 1 or more nouns/pronouns = 1 prepositional phrase

(I know it doesn't "add" up in the traditional sense of the word because obviously I know 1 + 1= 2, but it helps clarify things for them somehow)

I never liked English when I was in school...and I despised Math; I claimed I would never use the things I had to learn in those classes in my life = me eating my words now.

Hmm....God does funny things to us. How good and patient He is. =)
